Karen started her career in Coos County in 1995, as a Deputy District Attorney.  She graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She obtained her Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from Willamette University College of Law in 1995. Karen handles juvenile cases, adult cases with juvenile co-defendants, child support and elder abuse cases.
