Dog License Information

All dogs living in the state of Oregon are required to be vaccinated against rabies. All dogs living in Coos County are required to be licensed at 6 months of age (or when permanent canines appear), or with 30 days of becoming a resident. Licenses are issued by the Coos County Clerks Office and its licensing agents.

How to purchase a Dog License:

Mail the following information and fees to the Coos County Clerks Office:

  • Most recent Certificate of Rabies Vaccination from a licensed veterinarian.(Not an invoice/receipt)
  • Proof of Spay or Neuter from a licensed veterinarian.(Not an invoice/receipt)
  • Your name, mailing address, physical address (if different) and phone number.
  • Pay the appropriate fee (outlined below)

Issuing License

  • We will mail your (permanent) dog license and all certificates back to you.

One license will be issued per dog. If you have already received the 'permanent' license we will mail your receipt and documents back to you.

Fees: 1 year

  • $10.00 Spayed/Neutered (certificate required)
  • $45.00 Unaltered

Fees: 3 year

  • $30.00 Spayed/Neutered (certificate required)
  • $135.00 Unaltered

$150.00 per year; kennel license / animal rescue entity (see additional requirements)

The license is valid for one or three year/s OR until the rabies expires, whichever occurs FIRST.

Licenses may also be purchased through several vendors throughout the county.  The license will be processed and mailed by the Clerk's office, once documentation has been received from the vendor.  Vendors are allowed to charge an additional $2.00 processing fee.
