District Attorney

Jody Newby is the elected District Attorney for Coos County and was elected in 2024.  Jody has been a prosecutor throughout her entire career as an attorney.  Jody began working in Coos County September of 2015 as a Deputy District Attorney and became the Chief Deputy District Attorney shortly thereafter.  She has worked extensively with the South Coast Interagency Narcotics Team, Crash Team, and Major Crime Team since coming to work for the Coos County District Attorney's Office.

Prior to coming to Coos County, Jody interned at the city of Bothell Prosecutor's Office and also worked as a Deputy Prosecutor at the Cowlitz County Prosecutor's Office for over six years.  She obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Willamette University in 2001, and Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Seattle University School of Law in 2008.
