A Sheriff is required to post the initial Notice of Sale online; you can find these postings through the Oregon State Sheriff’s Association website http://oregonsheriffssales.org/ . Please note, houses are posted online for the required 28 days prior to auction and may not be listed up until the sale date. Sale canceled or postponed may occur at the discretion of the foreclosure law firm without required public posting.

Due to the volume of work in our office, and because papers may still be in the field active with a Deputy, we are unable to provide status updates over the phone. Accurate status of your paperwork can be verified by utilizing a courthouse database terminal and searching your court case number, or the plaintiff’s or defendant’s name.

No. Fees paid to the Sheriff’s Department are for processing and attempting service. In almost all instances attempts are made on different days/times if the respondent is not contacted on the first attempt.

Service time varies based on the current volume of active papers our division is attempting at any given time. Some papers are time sensitive, i.e. fast approaching court date, and become higher priority. We will make attempt(s) until the papers are served, or until we can show that the person is not servable, or the date of the paper(s) expires. Please be patient in this process, the Coos County Sheriff’s Office performs due and diligent search when serving civil process.
