The Sheriff’s Office provides law enforcement services to the residents of Coos County and security services to the Court System.The Sheriff’s Office is mandated to serve documents (civil process) issued by District and Magistrate courts, as well as transport prisoners into and out of Coos County. The Sheriff's Office serves as Coos County's principal law enforcement agency in accordance with Oregon State Law. The primary responsibility of the agency is to provide law enforcement services to county residents.The Sheriff assigns patrols to proactively deter criminal activity, promote traffic safety and respond to calls for service and other emergencies. The Sheriff has concurrent jurisdiction with local law enforcement agencies and cooperates closely with authorities and local agencies.
The Sheriff's office is available to provide, or assist with investigative services and training to other enforcement agencies within Coos County. The Sheriff is an elected position and is authorized to appoint deputies to assist in law enforcement.

Regular business hours for the Coos County Sheriff's Office are Monday - Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The office is closed for lunch daily from 11:15 am - 12:30 pm.

For all civil papers presented to the Coos County Sheriff's Office, in person, dropped off at the State Courts for pick up, or by mail, the subject requesting service and/or their personal representative, must complete an Instruction to Sheriff form.  Incomplete forms could possibly result in a delay of service or inability to serve the papers.  For the service of restraining orders, this form is not required as a similar document is already included in restraining orders.  For further information, please contact the Coos County Sheriff's Office Civil Division at 541-396-7803.

Per House Bill 2618, Civil Service fees will increase on January 1, 2018.

 Notice Process

(Summons and complaint with or without attachments, small claims notices, eviction summons and complaint, notice of restitution, citation, subpoena, orders, etc.)
For more than two parties at an address, the fee increases to $25.00 per person.
(Please note that "et al" or "All Other Occupants" is a party to be served and counts towards the total fee)

1-2 parties (same address)   $45.00

 5 parties (same address)  $125.00
 Writs of Garnishment  $25.00
 Writ of Execution in Judgement of Restitution  $80.00 Plus fees
